Ok, here's the story behind the mount. I was hesitant to post it at first because I feel like there's a lot behind it, but here goes!
My good buddy Prynne and I two man a lot of old raids every week on two toons for mog gear. He's been killing Attumen on his lock and more recently his warrior every week for some time now. I usually join up with him after if I want something on my toons. He went to Kara to do his mount run like normal Wednesday night, and I had asked him to take Honey to Kara to kill Nightbane for the black shield after. He was on his warrior, and right when we get to Nightbane we both realized we forgot only his lock had the key quest unlocked. We both thought we had the key a while back, but after all the changes it must have reset (he even had the urn in his bank). He volunteered to go back and finish the quest chain on his lock, which at the time it was so my priest could get an off-hand to mog for her Aynslieonfire set.
Since he always runs Kara for the mount, I protested. Mind you we always argue about what we do because we both want to do stuff to make each other happy, even if it means sacrificing something for ourselves. I had already hearthed on Honey and logged onto my priest and him onto his warlock. We both got in a raid group, flew to Kara, and proceeded to stand outside arguing about it. I walked over to the instance entrance, he saw me and must have dropped his lock portal while I wasn't looking, and as soon as I tried life gripping him into the instance he ported back to where he was. I laughed so hard!
I said I was fine with not going, and that he should go because he wanted the mount. He said the mount never drops anyways, we haven't seen the shield in a while, yadda yadda. He said that I should bring my paladin, and if the shield dropped, that I would have to admit he was right and should stop arguing with him about stuff like that. I've made him take quite a few things as gifts that he wouldn't dare ever ask for (I got him a Sandstone drake for his birthday!), and I'll frequently pass on stuff I want for him. I felt really bad because he was so adamant about it, and he asked me to go in a way that he hadn't really done before, so I caved in even though my spidey senses were telling me not to go and that we should run it on our lock and priest.
We did Nightbane, the shield didn't drop, and I logged back onto my priest. Since he normally only does Kara only on those two toons, I didn't ask if he wanted to bring another one with me while I went for the mount on a whim. I get in there, kill the boss, and am floored when I see it drop. I didn't even loot it, I just sat there for a full 30 seconds in disbelief. I whispered Prynne his name, and he said "what?". I looted the mount, got the achievement, and got a "..............................................." whisper. Of which, to prove my point, I immediately announced in guild "I F@$KING TOLD YOU, I'M RIGHT AND YOU'RE WRONG". You know, because I'm classy. He then proceeded to thank me for punching him "in the crotchal region" from 2k miles away. We had a good laugh at the irony. I still feel semi-guilty (I then forced him to log onto every other toon he had with every other toon I had, down to our level 80 toons to run it, while vowing to run it every week until it dropped again). He still feels semi-bitter because he kind of felt like he was trying to do the right thing and got burned, but he's happy I won it. I <3 my friend lol.
