The End of an Era

I've raided competitively since BC, started around 200ish in the US and wound up US top 50.  I've healed my little Paladin's butt off, and had a blast the whole time, and been proud of what my guild(s) has (have)done.  This is my hobby, even if it means I'm a huge nerd!

Mid October I got a promotion at work which meant a more hectic schedule, and I also moved farther away which meant more of a drive.  Both decreased my free time (what website?), and one in particular got too hard on me to raid competitively with my guild.

Raiding until 2 am four nights a week while having to sometimes get up at 6:30 am meant I would come home from work, take a nap to try and catch up, wake up tired and try to raid.  It severely affected my performance.  I don't always have to get up so early since my schedule varies a bit, but it seemed like I was always trying to play catch up.

It was during our Mythic Imperator progression I realized how much my lack of sleep was effecting me, and the whole guild.  I had double the amount of deaths on that fight compared to everyone else, and was incredibly slow to make decisions in general.  I tried to tough it out, but I eventually couldn't help but feel like I was holding our progression back.  I quit shortly thereafter.

I miss raiding Mythic, I miss my guildies, BUT I LOVE SLEEPING.  It's nice to not be so tired all of the time.  I don't have the time or the schedule to raid in a Mythic guild, but I joined a coworkers guild who only raids two nights a week!  It's heroics for now, and I've gone ret Paladin instead of holy, but it makes me happy enough.  I've got a nice group of people to raid with and it's stress free!

Hi Honey,

I'm glad you are getting more sleep! I know it's hard to stop raiding, like I did soon after my son was born. Mostly, the hard part is not hanging out with the people you've known since forever ago. I'm glad that you still play when you can, because Draenor wouldn't be the same without you. Stay classy, sexy, and (most importantly) yourself! I'll catch you online. <3
